• Undergraduate (now graduate student) Etan Hood published a paper in Transactions of the American Fisheries Society on the effects of turbidity on feeding of juvenile paddlefish.

• We received funding with OSU colleagues from the USGS to study remote sensing and eDNA in early detection of invasive plant species in the Upper Mississippi River Basin, "Next-generation monitoring: satellite remote sensing and eDNA integration for the early detection and management of aquatic invasive plants in the Upper Mississippi Basin". (January 2025).

• Sam Miess published a paper in Ecology on the natural history of a rock boring midge. (August 2024)

• Three papers from our collaborations with Polish and Russian scientists were recently published dealing with Daphnia competition and food quality:

  • Effects of cyanobacteria on competitive interactions between different sized cladoceran species (Water)​

  • Shifts in competition outcomes between two Daphnia species in response to algal P-content (Oecologia)

  • Combined effects of food quality and temperature on competitive interactions between small- and large-bodied cladoceran species (Limnologica)

• Bill Mausbach published a paper from his dissertation on metacommunity dynamics of zooplankton resting eggs in wetlands in the Journal of Crustacean Biology - https://academic.oup.com/jcb/article/44/3/ruae045/7719024.  Check out the appendix which includes detailed descriptions of egg/ephippia morphology for > 30 taxa. • Meghan Martin successfully defended her dissertation "Quantifying the influence of instream and and gravel mining and inefficient environmental regulations of stream health: A study of Saline Creek, Oklahoma" - congratulations Dr. Martin!  (July 2024)

• Bobby Bowser successfully defended his dissertation "Zooplankton responses to environmentally relevant concentrations of atrazine at individual, community, and metacommunity scales" - congratulations Dr. Bowser! (July 2023)

• We received funding with Scott Stoodley (Environmental Science Graduate Program) from the Chickasaw  Nation to develop a watershed plan for Lake Texoma. (July 2023)

• Sam Miess received an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship for his project "Incorporating community assembly mechanisms into the assessment and management of Oklahoma waterbodies”.  Great job Sam! (April 2023)​
